Web Word Wit Wisdom Billy Florence and Orrin Woodward

Billy Florence: Although people have differing opinions about the anniversary dates associated with the internet and the web, one area of mutual agreement is the contributions of Tim Berners-Lee.  Berners-Lee is the father of the world wide web.

Berners-Lee created the web in last 1980s and early 1990s and offered it for free on the net. 

Orrin Woodward: He created his hypertext program with the goal of helping scientists share research findings across a computer network.  His original name for the program was “the net” but came into popular use as the “world wide web.”

Billy Florence: All too often, the people who design sites forget the needs of the site’s visitor and design for themselves.  It’s providing what the visitor is looking for. That’s why these are two of my favorite  Berners-Lee statements.

Web users ultimately want to get at data quickly and easily. They don't care as much about attractive sites and pretty design.
