Kingda Ka makes its debut and kicks butt!

Leave it to Six Flags and New Jersey to create a ride to out brag Cedar Point here at the SanduskyBay area. That’s right a new ride developed by Six Flags in NJ will open or launch in May 2005.

Ladies and Gentlemen: The world’s fastest and tallest roller coaster is the Top Thrill Dragster err, excuse me actually that will soon be Kingda Ka! How about blasting off from zero to 128 mph in 3.4 seconds? Traveling fast enough to reach a height of 456 feet. That is 36 feet higher and 8 mph faster than the Top Thrill Dragster.

Climb onboard with Orrin Woodward leading the charge and ride 456 feet into the air listening to Billy Florence and Fred Harteis yelling before spiraling downward at a 90 degree angle (Chuck measured it) while doing a 270 degree spiral. Then while you are 38 feet off the ground I will snap your picture as you rock back 129 feet over a "camel hump" which is designed to give you a weight-less feeling like when you listen to Chris Brady.

Is the roller coaster industry competitive? Yikes! Sounds like it to me. Not that I mind fair and open competition. This ride will set you free for 50 seconds of thrills and chills.

Will Cedar Point come back with a taller and faster roller coaster? Stay tuned.
